PARK CITY Guide

Downtown Park City

At some point, Park City's carefully preserved Main Street boutiques, lively bars and nightlife, cafés and theaters call every visitor down the mountain for a little urban renewal. For guests of Montage Deer Valley, a memorable outing to Park City - named by Forbes Traveler Magazine among one of the "20 prettiest towns in the United States" - is as easy as catching a short, scenic ride with the complimentary Montage Deer Valley house car or shuttle.

When outdoor café season is in full swing, there's no more captivating place to spend a bit of free time than downtown Park City, where you'll quickly discover that the authentic, Western spirit underlying this special place is echoed by the unpretentious attitude of its residents. Old-fashioned trolleys take sightseers up and down Main Street free of charge, but strolling has its own charms among the many upscale, one-of-a-kind boutiques and fine restaurants.

Peruse Park City's string of vibrant nightclubs and historic saloons. Tap into the town's ongoing calendar of indoor/outdoor concerts, performing arts festivals and gallery openings, including programs with the Sundance Film Festival, Park City Food and Wine Classic and the Kimball Arts Festival. The popular weekly summer concerts at Snow Park Amphitheater and the Park Silly Sunday Market - Main Street's premier open-air market - are just a couple of local Park City pastimes.

History buffs can happily while away an afternoon at the Park City Historical Society Museum, newly refurbished with brand-new exhibits and interactive displays. Located at Utah Olympic Park, the Alf Engen Ski Museum and the George Eccles Olympic Winter Games Museum offer free, interactive exhibits that depict the history of skiing in the Intermountain West, share an in-depth look at the 2002 Olympics and Paralympics, and offer the thrill of a virtual reality ski theater.

Holidays fill Park City with small-town friendliness, a rich atmosphere and cherished traditions. Winter holidays bring caroling, horse-drawn sleigh rides and gingerbread-house displays. Summer ushers in more than 40 outdoor concerts and festivals and the beloved Fourth of July parade.
